Leamogetswe Safety Home is a safety home located in Atteridgeville and Saulsville townships, west of Pretoria.

Their target group is:

  • Homeless children and young people under the age of 19 years
  • Needy children and young people from local residents and from deprived families with nutritional, social and educational needs.
  • Young women living in abusive situations - predominantly young mothers fleeing from abusive homes with their children. These women are accommodated and cared for on a temporary basis, pending legal proceedings and referrals to other organizations.

Me. Matlakala Makhubela, who is the project director, is a Christian lady and help the people at Leamogetswe Safety Home through her Christian believes. She takes the children in her care to church on Sundays. She mentions to the Lion Ladies that she has had a need for Sotho and Zulu bibles for these children.

The Lions Club of Pretoria South approached the Bible Society and they donated 75 bibles in a mix of Zulu and Sotho to them.

On Sunday 27 July 2008 members of the Lions Club of Pretoria South handed the bibles over to Me. Matlakala Makubela from Leamogetswe Safety Home. They were very excited and thankful for the bibles.

The kids promised to use the bibles as a map for their lives. The also said that we can come on a monthly basis to hear from them how the bibles and the Word helped them in their lives. What a wonderful experience it was.
